Why is an easy-to-use gait analysis system needed?

Gait analysis is currently conducted either with the help of subjective observation or very complex instruments. However, without objective and simple recording of the gait pattern, there is a risk that changes in the motion sequence will go unnoticed.

SmartVia Assessments is developed by and for therapists!

We have developed a new gait analysis system together with therapists and physicians that addresses and eliminates current problems. It is very user-friendly and already in use at several locations. The benefits of SmartVia Assessments are:

  • Objective progress control
  • Automated reporting
  • Only a few minutes
  • Only one sensor
  • Broad patient spectrum

Assess mobility with the Timed Up and Go [TUG]

SmartVia Assessments also supports the Timed Up and Go, a mobility test. The TUG is very important in geriatrics but also in orthopaedics to assess mobility and balance. Using TUG results allows you to determine the risk of falling. Especially with elderly patients it is important to constantly monitor mobility and risk of falling. The most important objective parameters of the TUG are:

  • Total Time
  • Intermediate Times

SmartVia Assessments automatically recognizes the individual tasks of the TUG, for instance how to stand up and turn. Our algorithms then calculate the duration for each individual task, the so-called intermediate times:

  • Standing Up
  • Way Forward
  • Turn
  • Way Backwards
  • Turn
  • Sitting down
